We recently had the privilege of transporting Ayrton Senna’s personal Honda NSX to Japan for a private collector - an experience that thrilled our automotive team at AWL. Handling such a historic and iconic car was a real honour.
The legendary three-time World Champion Ayrton Senna’s personal Honda NSX went on sale in April 2024 on Auto Trader for an astonishing half a million pounds.
The red NSX is particularly famous as it was kept at Senna’s Portuguese home and famously photographed with him washing it in 1991.
The NSX also featured prominently in the film “Racing is in my Blood,” where Senna is seen lighting up the back wheels with a wheel spin. In addition to this red NSX, Senna owned two other NSX cars: a personal black one in Brazil and another black NSX purchased by his manager, Antonio Braga.
Ayrton Senna, considered one of the greatest drivers in Formula One history, dominated the late 80s and early 90s, winning 41 races and securing three world titles with McLaren. He tragically lost his life at Imola during the San Marino Grand Prix on May 1, 1994. His legacy endures, especially in Brazil, where he remains a beloved figure.
In 2019, to mark the 25th anniversary of Senna’s tragic passing, the red Honda NSX was taken to the Imola circuit and driven by Giancarlo Minardi in front of a full house of Senna fans.
With only a handful of these models in existence, we were honoured to handle such an important piece of automotive and racing history.
